The Idea that swept the world in one year
Rabbi Shmuel Halperin, may he live long and well, is the initiator of the idea of learning a daily page of mishnayos and the one who stands behind the venture of spreading the idea of learning all the mishnayos in one year. This idea of learning all the mishnayos in one year came to Rabbi Halperin a few years ago, but he decided on spreading this idea last year after his mother Mrs. Bertina Simona, the daughter of Rabbi Hanoch, R.I.P, passed away. Rabbi Halperin then decided to turn the learning of the mishnayos into a practice of the general public. It was decided according to the recommendation of the great scholars of Israel that in order that all the people of Israel will learn the mishnayos according to the same order to set the order in which the mishnayos will be learned according to the Jewish calendar, and that the learning will begin from Rosh Hashanah. That way, every year thousands of people of Israel will finish learning the six orders of the Mishna on the eve of the following Rosh Hashanah. This is what created the revolution in the study of the Jewish scriptures, and after only a few years there are today thousands of learners who together completed the learning of the Mishna in one year. The number of these daily learners is only increasing, and they are joined by ultra-orthodox jews from all the communities, including Yeshiva students, business owners, young and old people from all the Jewish communities.
