  • Seed on the third day is still viable

The next Mishnah teaches that the source for the halachah that a woman who emits semen on the third day after intercourse is tamei, is from the passuk in the parsha regarding the preparations for kabalas haTorah, היו נכנים לשלשת ימים – Be ready for a three-day period.

Rashi explains that since a three-day period was proscribed to give the women the opportunity to immerse themselves after intercourse and be in a state of purity for kabalas haTorah, we learn that semen remains viable for up to three days and its discharge is metamei the woman.

The entire Daf is centered around this topic.

  • Moshe ascended and descended Har Sinai at daybreak

Rav Adda bar Ahavah said that Moshe always ascended Har Sinai at daybreak and he descended at daybreak. We know that he ascended at daybreak based on the passuk, וישכם משה בבקר ויעל אל הר סיני – And Moshe arose early in the morning and ascended to Har Sinai

We know that he descended at daybreak based on a hekeish in the following passuk, לך רד ועלית אתה ואהרן עמך – Go, descend; that you shall ascend and Aaron with you. Just as Moshe’s ascent was at daybreak, so too his descent was at daybreak.

  • Machlokes when the Aseres Hadribros were given

There is a machlokes Tannaim regarding when the Aseres Hadribros were given:

The Rabannon hold that they were given on the sixth of Sivan.

Rebbe Yose holds that they were given on the seventh of Sivan.

Rava brings proofs from psukim that they both agree that Bnei Yisroel arrived in Midbar Sinai on Rosh Chodesh Sivan and that the Torah was given on Shabbos. They disagree as to which day of the week Rosh Chodesh Sivan was on.

Rebbe Yose maintains that Rosh Chodesh was on Sunday, making Shabbos the seventh of Sivan.

The Rabbanon hold that Rosh Chodesh was on Monday, which would result in Shabbos being the sixth of Sivan.

Siman – Police. The police were told to prepare for three days, before ascending the mountain at daybreak, to seek evidence as to when the Aseres Hadibros were given. Key Words – seed on third day, daybreak, Aseres Hadibros
